This research paper examines the abandoned settlements of Georgitsi and Mouri Sfakion, which, despite the ravages of time, retain significant architectural elements that reflect their unique identity. Each stone, each structure, tells a story—not only of human presence but also of the residents' relationship with the rugged and unforgiving Cretan landscape. The research, based on a literature review and on-site studies, documents building structures such as residences, churches, cisterns, and terraces, revealing the adaptability of the inhabitants to geographical and social challenges. Through this study, the cultural value of these settlements emerges, serving as silent witnesses of a past that seems distant yet continues to resonate through their architecture. This work seeks to highlight the importance of preserving these settlements as authentic monuments of Cretan cultural heritage
