Περίληψη

Herein, a methodology is presented for the calibration of the triaxial hyperbolic Mohr-Coulomb (HMC) elastoplastic model on a set of experimental data of conventional rock mechanics tests on intact rocks. It is demonstrated here that based on uniaxial compression, triaxial compression, and direct or indirect tension tests on intact rock specimens in the laboratory, 15 parameters of the elastic and hardening plastic HMC model pertaining to Carrara (Lorano) marble may be deduced in a straightforward manner. This procedure may be applied to any other rock type as well. Furthermore, an extension of the five-parameter HMC failure criterion to a six-parameter HMC criterion with a cap is proposed for the better representation of intact rock behavior in multiaxial loading conditions. © 2012 American Society of Civil Engineers.
