Absolute cross sections for the 32S(p, p′γ)32S nuclear reaction have been determined in the projectile energy region between 3.0 and 4.0 MeV using thin CdS targets. The energy region studied includes four resonances at projectile energies of 3.095, 3.195, 3.379 and 3.716 MeV, offering the possibility of determination of sulphur in near-surface layers of materials. The uncertainty of the cross sections determined is lower than 10%.
