The modern business environment is characterized by intense competition, endless efforts to reduce time and cost of production and of the best possible exploitation of the available resources. Within this framework, productivity is a key factor which greatly determines a company's adjustment and survival to market developments. The main object of the present dissertation is the understanding and definition of the multilevel concept of productivity as well as the research and the application of ways of measuring it. The problem under study refers to 9 industrial plants from a global group of companies. In the context of the study they have been carried out literature review, recording, selection and calculation of a limited number of appropriate productivity indicators of the individual units and for a period of 2 years. Then, the multi-criteria analysis PROMETHEE is applied in order to accomplish, a comparative assessment of the individual plant units ending up to the extraction of useful conclusions. The results arising are studied through the implementation of alternative scenarios, including the application of Simos individual criteria weight determination method.
