The main uses of limestone and lime include the use of lime in metallurgy, construction and environmental applications. This paper describes the most important uses of lime in processes related to the production of cement and concrete. The construction sector shows the most significant growth prospects and is the market for the products of the lime industry. The main applications of lime include road works, flood protection works (dams), and bridges.It is estimated that the ever-increasing demand for environmentally-friendly products and technologies over the next decade will increase the production of lime, especially after the implementation of various environmental laws at national, European and global level.
