Summary

This thesis presents and analyses, the structural elements that make up the smart grid. The main components of the smart grid are: the renewable energy generation system, the battery electricity storage system, the smart loads and the energy distribution network. What is more, the operation of a smart grid, interconnected with power grid, is modeled and simulated in different scenarios of electricity generation and supply from renewable energy sources and the grid respectively.
