Summary

With the rise, in recent years, in the number of children whose parents address a speech therapist for the assessment and treatment of possible phonological disorders, whether this is due to the increased number of informed parents and children educators regarding these disorders or the improvement of the diagnostic criteria, resolving the problems that therapists face during the speech therapy process for children, and assisting this process via technological/digital means, becomes an imperative need. In this diploma thesis we designed and developed a digital interactive tool for the support of the detection/assessment procedure and, thus, the treatment of phonological disorders in children, that is easy to use by the therapist and enjoyable by the patients. The name of this tool is EYLogo and it is designed and implemented in a way so that it can be used as a basis for the creation of a more complex system in the future, with more methods for the procedure's support and the usage of advanced machine learning techniques. It is worth noting that the design and development of the current tool version was performed through a largely participatory process, which incorporated observations, comments, and evaluation by a special speech therapist.
