The natural environment within cities has evolved in the recent years into one of the most important issues of urban planning. Under these circumstances, it is important that urban green spaces are shaped and located in such a way as to meet the needs of the residents, especially in constantly growing cities such as Chania. Object of the present research is the existing green spaces of the urban complex of Chania. Through recording and analysis, their relationship with the urban environment in which they are included will be explored, as well as the way in which historical and urban planning factors influenced their development during the city's development process. Furthermore, the perceptions and needs of the residents will be investigated and interpreted to draw conclusions.
