Summary

The value of the environment and the sustainable development has practically concern humanity in recent decades. Continued population growth combined with skyrocketing needs for raw materials, goods, and energy makes it clear that existing development needs to change route. The continuous dependence on fossil fuels and their by-products has led to their gradual depletion. The unstoppable production of pollutants has caused irreparable damage to the environment, at the same time it is considered a major factor in the global temperature increase. Efforts such as those of the United Nations Organization with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals show the way to all individuals in an effort to change mentality, focusing attention on Sustainable Development. Financial Institutions conduct viability assessments on businesses to attract new investors. There is now a strong interest, even in SME, regarding sustainable development, its benefits and the ways in which they can implement and follow it.This thesis presents an attempt to define sustainable development, how it appears in the second decade of the twenty-first century, a presentation of the goals that have been set for the next decades in the context of meetings and how the sustainable practices of enterprises are evaluated from investors but also consumers according to the results of previous surveys. Finally, a case study is presented according to the sustainable development of a Micro Brewery, focusing on existing and future sustainable practices and also how these are communicated to the consumer public. The case study is done in collaboration with an existing SME which the material will be presented and it will be at its own discretion whether to follow the researcher’s suggestions.
