Summary

The design of the present thesis concerns the creation of a cultural centre and by extension the regeneration of the surrounding area in the city of Nafplio and more specifically in the area of the railway station. The strategic location of the area, which is the link between the Old and the New Town and this unused urban void contributed to the proposal for the creation of a cultural centre and a new green landscape that will thus act as a pole of attraction for both residents and visitors of the city. Taking into account the physiognomy of the city's terrain, the hills of Palamidi and Acronauplia, a building is proposed whose roofs are low, sloping and function as transit, staging and viewing areas to all directions (hill, sea, Old Town, New Town). The cultural centre will house uses such as: exhibition spaces, a theatre hall, smaller presentation and meeting rooms, a bookshop and a refreshment room.
