The present thesis is the study of the settlement of Kardamena, in Kos. Its purpose is the urban planning of the area aiming to upgrade and create a sustainable and functional settlement, by taking into consideration the characteristics and needs of the area. The thesis is structured in three chapters. In the first one, the analysis of the settlement is conducted, after an on-site inspection, studying the existing land uses, the traffic, the public spaces and the implemented building regulations. In the second chapter, the evaluation of the existing situation is conducted, as derived from the analysis and the residents, through questionnaires distributed in person and electronically. The third section describes the proposed corrective urban fabric interventions that were deemed necessary in the four above-mentioned areas, following the evaluation of the existing situation, while an expansion is also proposed, following the same planning principles.
