Summary

This chapter aims to calculate the energy signature of the Novel Technology Lab in Athalassa campus of Nicosia, to obtain the overall estimation of the consumption by starting from common measurements that are easily collected in a smart building, such as external and internal temperature. Energy model-based simulation is tool that allows us to model the building as system that is able to simulate dynamic thermal interactions between building and outdoor and indoor environments. The novel technologies laboratory: designed as a “green building”, using specific standards that permit it to be a near zero-energy building. Data exploration is the first step in data analysis and usually involves summarizing the key characteristics of a dataset. The chapter investigates, analyzes and optimizes the operational performance of a building used for research and educational purposes with the use of quasi-dynamic simulation.
