A web-driven platform was created and tested successfully dedicated for the monitoring of a surface and underground marble quarry in Greece. The platform is easy to use and most importantly it transforms a real-life quarry into the “digital quarry”. The progress of measurements from instruments from various sources (dataloggers) at the quarry are wirelessly collected, filtered, reduced, presented in the form of time-series graphs of the measurements and finally transmitted to the desktop computer or mobile phone of the responsible user every day. The measurements are compared at the same time with threshold values of stresses or displacements deduced from a 3D distinct element model used for the planning of stable excavations.
