Summary

This study explores the evolution of cities since the mid-20th century focusing on rapid social, economic, and technological changes that highlight the need for adaptable urban design. Phenomena like urbanization and globalization challenge contemporary urban architecture and often lead to cities that overlook local identities. When these challenges are not addressed creatively, they often lead to thedevelopment of cities that neglect or exclude their local identity.Simultaneously, the rapid advancement of technology coupled with thecontinuous flow of information and enhanced communication, introduces new parameters for urban planning, requiring flexible approaches. As a result, modern cities need to respond to individuals’ increasing demands for services and resources while ensuring a balanced and high-quality life respecting their unique identi- ty. Through this analysis, the need for explora- tion of new and more flexible housing models emerges. Design characteristics that align with this new framework are closely linked to the adaptive lifestyle of the Neo-nomad.The urgent need for flexibility, freedom, and constant mobility, as well as the ways in which these demands are reflected in space, form the main research interest of this study.
