| Content Summary | Η ερευνητική εργασία πραγματεύεται τον όρο της μνημειακότητας στην αρχιτεκτονική μέσα από θεωρίες και παραδείγματα, αναλύοντας κτίρια που ανήκουν στο παρελθόν με σύγχρονες επεμβάσεις, αλλά και “μνημεία” των πρόσφατων χρόνων. Επιλέγοντας τον αρχιτέκτονα David Chipperfield, διερευνούνται οι σκέψεις και το έργο του έχοντας ως βασικό άξονα τη μνημειακότητα και εστιάζοντας σε τρία από τα πιο σημαντικά του έργα. Συγκεκριμένα, εξετάζονται η αποκατάσταση του Μουσείου Neues, η Γκαλερί James Simon και η επέκταση του Κοιμητηρίου San Michele, μέσα από την ανάλυση πέντε εννοιών: του πλαισίου (context), της παράδοσης (tradition), της μνήμης (memory), της μορφής (form) και της συνέχειας (continuity) - πέντε όρους που επαναλαμβάνονται από τον αρχιτέκτονα σε αναφορές στα έργα του, ενώ επιχειρείται η συνθετική ανάλυση του κάθε κτιρίου. Παράλληλα, μέσω αυτών των πέντε θεματικών στοχεύεται η ανάδειξη της έννοιας του μνημειακού μέσα από τις διαφορετικές πτυχές του κάθε παραδείγματος. Τέλος, διερευνάται η σχέση μεταξύ του παλαιού και νέου, οι συγκρούσεις αλλά και αρμονίες που προκύπτουν. | el |
| Content Summary | This essay examines the term monumentality in architecture through theories and examples, including buildings that belong to the past with modern interventions and "monuments" of recent years. By focusing on the architect David Chipperfield, his thoughts and work are explored with monumentality as the main axis, focusing on four of his most important works. Specifically, the refurbishment of the Neues Museum, the James-Simon-Gallery, and the extension of San Michele Cemetery are examined, focusing on the terms context, tradition, memory, form, and continuity, five terms that the architect frequently uses in his projects, while attempting the architectural analysis of each case. At the same time, through these five keywords, the highlighting of monumentality is aimed at the different aspects of each example. Also, the relationship between the old and the new, the conflicts, and the harmonies that arise are discussed. | en |
