Agia Lake, an artificial lake that has evolved into a natural wetland and is now part of the Natura 2000 network, hosts rich flora and fauna. On its shores stands the ruined Manos Mill, a water-powered flour mill built in 1912, which maintains a dialogue of memory with the landscape. At the entrance of the lake park lies the old Moisidis juice factory, an industrial shell from the 1950s, a remnant of a different productive era in the region. This diploma project explores the connection between these two abandoned structures, redefining their use and creating a route that highlights the natural landscape. The mill is transformed into an information center for the lake’s ecosystem, as well as a small research facility for its study and protection. The old factory complements this function by providing temporary accommodation for researchers. The two structures are unified through gentle landscape interventions and connections with lightweight constructions that take advantage of the area’s natural features, serving alternately as pathways and resting points for observing and experiencing the landscape.
