The subject of investigation in the present study is the creation of an Agritourism Center in the area of Agios Pavlos, Kattavia, in Southern Rhodes. The objective of the design is to reconnect people with the countryside and to highlight rural life through the development of a destination that promotes agritourism. The choice of intervention site is linked to the remains of a rural prison dating back to the 1930s, which are utilized as the foundation for the design. The building’s shell is preserved and repurposed to host new functions, such as a restaurant and a local products market, featuring goods produced by the visitors themselves during their stay. The new addition includes guest apartments, communal areas, and interior courtyards, enhancing the experiential aspect of cultivation, learning, and gastronomic enjoyment. The overall design seeks to offer a complete cycle of agritourism experiences, while simultaneously rendering the area more accessible and reinforcing its potential as a point of reference for local development.
