| Content Summary | Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία αφορά τη δημιουργία ενός Κέντρου Εναλλακτικών Θεραπειών στον Άγιο Νίκωνα της Μάνης, σε ένα εκτεταμένο οικόπεδο που περιλαμβάνει έναν ιστορικό πύργο του 1802. Το έργο εστιάζει στην αποκατάσταση του πύργου, ο οποίος έχει υποστεί αλλοιώσεις κατά τη διάρκεια του χρόνου, με στόχο την ανάδειξή του μέσα από μια σύγχρονη αρχιτεκτονική προσέγγιση που σέβεται την ιστορικότητα του κελύφους. Παράλληλα, σχεδιάζονται προσθήκες με τη χρήση φυσικών και βιώσιμων υλικών, αξιοποιώντας τη χωμάτινη τεχνική “light clay” (αχυροπηλός), δημιουργώντας μια νέα αρχιτεκτονική γλώσσα που εναρμονίζεται με το τοπίο και τον χαρακτήρα της Μάνης. Το Κέντρο φιλοδοξεί να λειτουργήσει ως επίκεντρο μιας ολιστικής εμπειρίας προσφέροντας στους χρήστες, που αναζητούν ηρεμία και ανανέωση, έναν χώρο φιλοξενίας και προσωπικής ενδυνάμωσης μέσα από εναλλακτικές μορφές θεραπείας, ενσωματώνοντας εναν αρμονικό συνδυασμό φύσης, αυτοφροντίδας και συλλογικής εμπειρίας. | el |
| Content Summary | This diploma thesis investigates the design of an Alternative Therapy Center in the village of Agios Nikon, in the region of Mani, Peloponnese. The proposed intervention is situated on an extensive site that includes a historic tower dating back to 1802. The project focuses on the restoration of the tower, which has undergone various alterations over time, with the aim of highlighting and preserving its historical character through a contemporary architectural lens that remains respectful of the building’s original character. In parallel, new additions are designed using natural and sustainable materials, with particular emphasis on the light clay (straw-clay) construction technique. These architectural gestures create a dialogue between the solid permanence of the historic stone tower and the contemporary, earth-built extensions, establishing a new architectural language that resonates with the cultural and natural landscape of Mani — a hybrid expression that is both place-sensitive and future-oriented. The Center aspires to operate as a nucleus for holistic well-being and personal empowerment, offering alternative therapeutic practices within an environment that fosters a harmonious synthesis of architecture, nature, and restorative experience for its users. | en |
