Content SummaryA computer program idor2d GIS was developed to simulate the currents and pollutant transport in lakes and coastal areas. The model is a closely-coupled two-dimensional, hydrodynamic/pollutant transport geographic information systems (GIS) model that operates within arc-view GIS. The use of this GIS based interface module facilitates the improved communication of the basic patterns and relationships associated with hydrodynamic/pollutant transport simulation and the application of this information to water resources, planning and management. Model functionality for data capture, data editing, pre-processing, embedded artificial intelligence, and result interpretation is described. The functionality of this model is illustrated through a case study on Suda Bay located in Crete, Greece.en
