A finite element analysis for the approximation of the dynamic response of laminate composite plates withpiezoelectric layers is presented. The formulation is based on the classical plate theory and Hamilton’s principle.The active control of the plate is studied using both the optimal linear quadratic regulator strategy and the robustH∞ control theory. Preliminary numerical simulations are carried out in order to demonstrate the efficiency of theproposed control strategies.
