We apply the domain boundary element method to the analysis of two-dimensional viscoplastic structures containing V-notches. The application of this method is illustrated by obtaining stress and strain distribution for specimens with a single edge notch and subjected to tension. The formulation is based on the assumption of small-strain and small rotation viscoplastic deformation. The deformation of the specimen material is assumed to be described by the combined creep-plasticity constitutive model of Hart. The stress concentration of this plane-stress problem, caused in the vicinity of the notch tip, is determined by using various loading histories. On the basis of numerical examples, we obtain recommendation for design.
