Content SummaryA new medium access control (MAC) protocol for mobile wireless communications is presented and investigated. We explore, via an extensive simulation study, the performance of the protocol when integrating voice, MPEG-4 video and e-mail data packet traffic over a wireless channel of high capacity. Our scheme achieves high aggregate channel throughput in all cases of traffic load, while preserving the quality of service (QoS) requirements of each traffic typeen
