Περίληψη

Wide range of digital systems from wireless devices tomulti-media terminals are characterized by their multi-modebehavior. Many of these systems are deployed in high-radiationenvironments [5]. SRAM-based FPGAs are popular platforms toimplement multi-mode systems, because of their highperformance and reconfigurability. However, high susceptibilityof FPGAs toward Soft Errors makes them less-than-reliableplatforms. To overcome the reliability issue, various redundancytechniques have been proposed. These techniques exhibitdifferent design and reliability characteristics. Considering thecombined effect of design decisions and reliability techniques onsystem characteristics a coherent strategy should be devised tomeet system requirements and constraints. In this work wepropose a method to explore the design space for implementing areliable multi-mode system. As we will show, different selectionsof design parameters and redundancy techniques generate arange of solutions which trade-off total area, reconfigurationoverhead and reliability of the system. The choice of a specificsolution remains a decision made by the system-designer.
