Content SummaryThe present work improves the efficiency for an Induction Motor (IM) drive by: (a) Off-line calculation of an optimal speed profile in order to achieve minimum total electromagnetic losses (machine and converter system losses) as well as to maintain satisfactory dynamic performance, over an closed-cycle operation. This speed profile is adjusting input to the drive either by off-line programming or on-line closed loop control. (b) On-line fuzzy logic adjustment of the magnetizing current in order to achieve the minimum input dc power during transient and steady states. Simulations results confirm the validity of the proposed method and experimental results will be available upon conclusion of the laboratory testings.en
