Summary

This paper aims to discuss engineering aspects for an agent-basedambient assisted living system for the home environment using argumentationfor decision making. The special requirements of our system are to provide aplatform with cost-effective specialized assisted living services for the elderlypeople having cognitive problems, which will significantly improve the qualityof their home life, extend its duration and at the same time reinforce socialnetworking. The proposed architecture is based on an agent platform withpersonal assistant agents that can service users with more than one type ofhealth problems.
