Summary

The application and the development of the dialectical logic and methodology of science toreveal the inner systematic interconnection of laws and categories of political economy whichreflect the structure of the contemporary system of relations of production, also makes it possibleto outline the theoretical periodization of this system. The characteristics of the contemporary stage of capitalism, of the globalised imperialismare: 1.Concentration and centralization of capital, as well as socialization of production. Thehigh-level development of the latter creates the current internal limit of the capital extensivegrowth: the transnational monopolistic corporations, which play a decisive role in economic lifeon a global scale. 2.Merger of the financial and industrial capital, subordination of the second tothe first, and the formation of a global financial oligarchy on the basis of this financial capital. We need to stress the importance of instant financial flows, which are getting more and moreintermediarily related to production. This is accompanied by the corresponding transfer of components of the production process all around the globe, which has asquired pronouncedimportance, instead of the traditional exports of capital and goods. 3.According to the secondstage of scientific-technological revolution, the creation of a technological basis -of the globallydistributed and internetworked production- is done by transnational monopolistic corporations, interms of production and not only in terms of export-circulation of capital. The creation of such a basis, on the one hand leads to the real subordination of global labour to the globalised capital(the global distribution of labour turns out to be a technological need), and on the other hand, marks the beginning of the creation of global productive forces, and the technological basis for the unification of humanity. 4.Given the change of the limit of extensive growth of capital (dueto the restoration of capitalism in most countries of early socialism in the 20th century) as well asof the limit of intensive growth of capital (due to the second stage of scientific-technologicalrevolution and restructuring of production), the results are: a) Escalation of the division of theworld among the international monopolistic corporations and subordination of society to thesecorporations. b) Reconstruction of forces and establishment of poles for the division of land (soil, subsoil, sea, air, space) and power among the bigest and strongest capitalist powers. The globalized imperialism is a unique development stage of capitalism, as during thatstage: the dominance of multinational monopolistic conglomerates and of financial capital isshaped, the instant cash flows are becoming significant, the technological basis for theunification of production is created by the conglomerates, the redistribution of wealth among themultinational monopolistic groups is escalated and the major capitalist countries (as well as their poles) are struggling for redivision of land, subsoil, sea, air, space and power.Such an approach suggests a periodization in accordance with a changing foundation, depending on the development of the main contradiction of this system, on the stages of scientific and technological revolution, on the character and the level of socialization of production, on the correlation between extensive and intensive development.
