| Content Summary | The initial scope of the present postgraduate thesis is to identify the various types of vaulted and arched churches in Crete, as well as to record their historical development. The first part of the thesis explores which are the various construction types, at which frequency they are encountered, as well as when and where they are to be found. Subsequently, the reinforcement techniques employed for arched and vaulted constructions, as well as the intervention methods used to restore their wear and damage are comprehensively studied. The core of this part comprises the following issues: which types of damages are encountered in Crete, at which frequency they are manifested and which of the restoration methods have been implemented to the churches of Crete. The present work, the objective of which was to concentrate and analyse all the aforementioned data, can constitute a useful aid to those interested in future studying and delving into these special constructions, i.e. arches, vaults, cupolas, in Cretan church architecture. | en |
| Content Summary | Αντικείμενο μελέτης της εν λόγω διπλωματικής μεταπτυχιακής εργασίας αποτελεί αρχικά ο εντοπισμός των διαφορετικών τύπων τοξωτών και θολωτών κατασκευών που απαντούν στους ναούς της Κρήτης, καθώς και η καταγραφή της ιστορικής τους εξέλιξης. Ποιοι τύποι εμφανίζονται, με ποια συχνότητα, ποια χρονική περίοδο και σε ποιες περιοχές, είναι μερικά από τα ζητήματα που εξετάζονται στην πρώτη ενότητα. Στη συνέχεια, επιχειρείται ενδελεχής μελέτη των τεχνικών ενίσχυσης των τοξωτών και θολωτών κατασκευών αλλά και των επεμβατικών μεθόδων για την αποκατάσταση των φθορών και των αστοχιών που αυτές παρουσιάζουν. Ποια είδη αστοχιών απαντούν στην Κρήτη και με τι συχνότητα εκδηλώνονται και ποιες από τις μεθόδους αποκατάστασης εφαρμόζονται στους ναούς της, αποτελούν τα κύρια ζητήματα που συνθέτουν τον θεματικό πυρήνα της ενότητας αυτής. Το εν λόγω πόνημα, σκοπός του οποίου ήταν η αποδελτίωση όλων αυτών των δεδομένων που προαναφέρθηκαν, θα αποτελέσει ένα χρήσιμο βοήθημα για όσους θελήσουν μελλοντικά να μελετήσουν και να ασχοληθούν με την παρουσία των ειδικών αυτών κατασκευών –τόξων, θόλων, τρούλων– στην κρητική ναοδομία, αφού παρέχει συγκεντρωμένες όλες τις απαραίτητες πληροφορίες. | el |
