This diploma thesis concerns the redesign of Heraklion International Airport in the area of Nea Alikarnassos. Based on the theories developed in the research project (From airport to city - airport, historical context and modern approaches), an attempt is made to analyze the surrounding area and to identify the problematic relations of the city with the existing airport, aiming at redesigning it in accordance with modern operational requirements. At the same time, considering the plans for its transfer to Kastelli, it is proposed to remain in the area of Nea Alikarnassos and to create urban interventions in order to be connected to the city.
