| Content Summary | Η παρούσα διπλωματική αναφέρεται στη μελέτη των αναστηλώσεων των αρχαίων μνημείων κατά την περίοδο της Ιταλοκρατίας στην Κω. Τα αρχαία μνημεία της Κω καταγράφηκαν, αναστηλώθηκαν και αποκαταστάθηκαν από τους Ιταλούς κατά την περίοδο 1920-1940 γεγονός που συνετέλεσε στη διάσωσή τους. Ωστόσο, εντοπίζονται και ορισμένες αστοχίες ως προς τις μεθόδους και τις αρχές των αναστηλώσεων που εφαρμόστηκαν από τους Ιταλούς. Οι αστοχίες αυτές μελετώνται υπό το πρίσμα της εποχής που πραγματοποιήθηκαν, δηλαδή ως προς τις αρχές που συνήθως ακολουθούνταν για την αποκατάσταση μνημείων στην Ιταλία κατά το πρώτο ήμισυ του 20ου αιώνα. Για την πληρέστερη κατανόηση του κειμένου παρουσιάζονται οι αρχές αυτές εν συντομία. Η εργασία επιπλέον ερευνά το ιδιαίτερο φυσικό και δομημένο περιβάλλον της Κω προκειμένου να προβάλλει το ιστορικό υπόβαθρο και τις συνθήκες που επικρατούσαν στην Κω κατά τη συγκεκριμένη περίοδο. Παρουσιάζονται τα κυριότερα και γνωστότερα αρχαία μνημεία του νησιού, αλλά και μνημεία μικρότερης κλίμακας, με εξίσου σημαντικό ενδιαφέρον ως προς τις επεμβάσεις των Ιταλών σε αυτά. Η μελέτη καταλήγει στην αξιολόγηση των πρακτικών και των μεθόδων που ακολούθησαν οι Ιταλοί, καθώς επίσης επιχειρεί μια γενικότερη θεώρηση όσον αφορά στην αποτελεσματικότητά τους και στον τρόπο που έχουν συμβάλλει στη διασφάλιση της παρουσίας των μνημείων μέχρι σήμερα. | el |
| Content Summary | This thesis refers to the study and presentation of ancient monuments restorations during the Italian Rule in Kos. The ancient monuments of Kos were recorded, consolidated and restoredby the Italians during the period 1920–1940;a fact that contributed to their preservation.However, there are some weaknesses in the methods and principles of restorations conductedby the Italians. Those disadvantages have been studied with respect tothespecific time period, that is to say, with regard to the principles that were commonly followed for monumentrestorationin Italy duringthe first half of the 20th century. For a better understanding of this study, those principles are presented in brief. In addition, the text deals with the particular natural and structural environment of Kos in order to understand the historical background andconditions prevailingin Kos during this period.The main and most famous monuments of the island, as well as monuments of smaller scale, with equally important interest as to the Italian interventionsare also presented.The study concludes in the evaluation of practices andmethods implemented by the Italians and attempts a more general analysis of the effectiveness of thesemethods,as to contribute to the safeguarding ofthe monuments in the future. | en |
