| Content Summary | Hussein Chalayan is an exceptional case of creator and this could be asserted from numerous viewpoints. Born in Nicosia in 1970, raised in his birthplace as much as in London and a graduate in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins. From 1993 and on he conducts artistic research around the relation of the body with time and space though the design of collections which are shown firmly in fashion weeks under his own label, but without being limited to that. The significance of his work is located early on in making performances out of his fashion shows, referring to current sociopolitical issues as a unique approach in the fashion industry and in applying transformative technology on garments. Nevertheless a constant revolutionary aspect in his interdisciplinary work that relates to exploring emerging and unconventional human activity and making an unorthodox intersemiotic use of media is not sufficiently studied. The following research on the work of the designer aims at an exploration of its aesthetics concerned with the political subject. Chalayan manages the imposition of a dialectical relation with the viewer by weaving non-verbal aesthetic mechanisms in different ways, which now could be examined as language. | en |
| Content Summary | Ο Hussein Chalayan είναι μια ξεχωριστή περίπτωση δημιουργού και αυτό μπορεί να υποστηριχθεί από διαφορετικές σκοπιές. Γεννημένος στη Λευκωσία το 1970, μεγαλωμένος τόσο εκεί όσο και στο Λονδίνο και απόφοιτος Σχεδίου Μόδας του Central Saint Martins. Από το 1993 μέχρι σήμερα διεξάγει καλλιτεχνική έρευνα με κέντρο τη σχέση του σώματος με το χώρο και το χρόνο μέσω του σχεδιασμού κολεξιόν που παρουσιάζονται σταθερά στις εβδομάδες μόδας με το δικό του brand, χωρίς όμως να περιορίζεται σε αυτό. Η σημασία του έργου του εντοπίζεται από νωρίς στην αναγωγή των επιδείξεών του σε περφόρμανς, στην αναφορά των θεματικών του σε καίρια κοινωνικοπολιτικά ζητήματα ως μοναδική προσέγγιση στη βιομηχανία της μόδας και στην εφαρμογή τεχνολογιών μεταβλητότητας στα ενδύματα που σχεδιάζει. Ωστόσο η σταθερή επαναστατική διάσταση του διατομεακού έργου του που σχετίζεται με τη διερεύνηση καινοφανών και ανένταχτων περιπτώσεων ανθρώπινης δραστηριότητας και την ανορθόδοξη διασημειωτική χρήση των μέσων δεν είναι επαρκώς μελετημένη. Η παρούσα ερευνητική εργασία, με αντικείμενο το έργο του σχεδιαστή, αποσκοπεί στη διερεύνηση της αισθητικής του με άξονα το πολιτικό υποκείμενο. Ο Chalayan επιτυγχάνει με διάφορους τρόπους, που πλέον μοιάζουν με λεξιλόγιο, την επιβολή μιας διαλεκτής σχέσης με τον θεατή υφαίνοντας μη λεκτικούς αισθητικούς μηχανισμούς. | el |
