| Content Summary | Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία διερευνά τις διάφορες αντιλήψεις και προσεγγίσεις για τον θάνατο, σε μία προσπάθεια αποδόμησής του. Δεν υπάρχει τίποτα το παγιωμένο και βέβαιο κατά τη διάρκεια της ζωής μας, παρά το αναπόφευκτο γεγονός του θανάτου. Η άρνηση του θανάτου είναι αυτομάτως και η άρνηση για ζωή. Αφετηρία για την παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία αποτέλεσε το πλέον εγκαταλελειμμένο κτίριο των Πρώην Δικαστικών Φυλακών στην οδό Γιαμπουδάκη στα Χανιά, ως ένας κενός και ανοίκειος χώρος. Λαμβάνοντας υπ’ όψιν την έντονη θρησκευτική δραστηριότητα της περιοχής και την Νεκρόπολη της αρχαίας Κυδωνίας, η νέα χρήση που προτείνεται είναι αυτή ενός Κέντρου Αποτέφρωσης Νεκρών. Το κτίριο του Αποτεφρωτηρίου αποτελεί ένα καταφύγιο για τους συγγενείς των εκλιπόντων, μία «περιτειχισμένη πόλη» των νεκρών. Μία παύση στον χαώδη, πολλές φορές, αστικό ιστό, η οποία παραδόξως γίνεται μέρος της πόλης. | el |
| Content Summary | The present thesis explores the various perceptions and approaches towards death, in an attempt to deconstruct it. There is nothing consolidated and certain during our lives, despite the inevitable event of death. The denial of death is automatically the denial of life. The starting point of this thesis was the now abandoned building of the Former Judicial Prison on Giaboudaki Str. in Chania, as an empty and uncanny place. Taking into account the intense religious activity of the area as well the Necropolis of ancient Kydonia, the new use that is proposed is that of a Crematorium. The building is a shelter for the relatives of the deceased, a “walled city” of the dead. A pause in the often chaotic urban fabric, which strangely becomes part of the city. | en |
