The present work concerns the development of a parametric tool of analysis, grouping and design on the rooftops of Athens. The goal is to give public space to the residents of the densely populated city, by converting the shared rooftops into an elevated network of semi-public spaces. The tool works in 3 levels. At the level of the municipal district, the information is processed to create a base model, to produce the network of rooftops and select the areas in need of public space and green space. At the level of each building block, the rooftops are grouped in terms of connectivity, the location of pedways and stairs is computed and the functions are distributed. Finally, at the level of a densely populated area, a parametric synthetic model is produced, based on the respective characteristics and spatial qualities, the feasibility of the solution, the gradual escalation of privacy and their bioclimatic upgrade through green roofs and walls.
