| Content Summary | Τα τελευταία 3 περίπου χρόνια, παρατηρείται μια ραγδαία αύξηση των επιδόσεων αλλά και του κόστους των κινητών τηλεφώνων. Τα περισσότερα σύγχρονα κινητά έχουν τέτοιες δυνατότητες που πριν από μία δεκαετία δεν φανταζόμασταν ότι θα βρισκόντουσαν συγχωνευμένες σε μία συσκευή. Μπορούν, για παράδειγμα, να τραβήξουν φωτογραφίες με ευκρίνεια όπως μια επαγγελματική μηχανή (DSLR). Επίσης έχουν την δυνατότητα να ξεκλειδώνουν/ανοίγουν και να τα χειρίζεται ο χρήστης με ένα απλό σκανάρισμα-σάρωση του προσώπου ή της ίριδας του ματιού. Χάρη στους γρήγορους επεξεργαστές που διαθέτουν, μπορούν να εκτελούν πολλές εργασίες παράλληλα, χωρίς να παρουσιάζεται καθυστέρηση. Τέλος, μπορούν και φορτίζουν τις μπαταρίες τους ασύρματα χωρίς να χρειάζεται φορτιστής. Όλα αυτά όμως είναι χαρακτηριστικά που για να τοποθετηθούν σε μία συσκευή έχουν κάποιο κόστος. Το άθροισμα από αυτά τα κόστη αλλά και όλων των χαρακτηριστικών που διαθέτει ένα κινητό τηλέφωνο, συμπεριλαμβάνονται στο εργοστασιακό κόστος (Manufacturing cost ή product cost) . Οι σχέσεις μεταξύ της ποιότητας των χαρακτηριστικών που χρησιμοποιούνται για την κατασκευή και του κόστους τους, είναι ανάλογες. Όσο πιο ποιοτικά είναι τα χαρακτηριστικά, τόσο αυξάνεται και η αποδοτικότητα της συσκευής. Συνεπώς η καλύτερη ποιότητα είναι άρρηκτα συνδεδεμένη με υψηλότερο κόστος. Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία, ασχολείται με τα έξυπνα κινητά τηλέφωνα (smartphones) και μελετά τη σχέση του κόστους κατασκευής με την απόδοση. Στόχος της είναι η εύρεση μιας μαθηματικής σχέσης για την σύνδεση αυτών των δύο παραγόντων. Η εκπόνηση της εργασίας έχει ως απώτερο σκοπό την κατανόηση των ήδη υπαρχόντων συσκευών, αλλά και την πρόβλεψη των επόμενων μοντέλων (των εταιρειών τεχνολογίας Samsung και Apple), όσον αφορά το κόστος και τις επιδόσεις τους. | el |
| Content Summary | In the last 3 years or so, there has been a sharp increase in both the performance and the cost of mobile phones. Most modern phones have such capabilities, that a decade ago, we never imagined they would be merged into one device. They can take photos, like a professional digital camera (DSLR) and they can also be unlocked and handled by the user’s face or by scanning his iris. Thanks to their fast processors, they can perform many tasks at the same time without any delay. Finally, they can charge their batteries wirelessly, without the need of a charger. But all these are features are costly to install on any device. The summary of these costs and all the features that a mobile phone includes, are subsumed in the manufacturing cost (or product cost). The relationship between the quality of the features used for construction and their cost are similar. The efficiency of the device increases as the quality of its characteristics is improved. Consequently, better quality is inextricably linked to higher costs. The present study, refers to smartphones and in particular investigates the relationship between the manufacturing cost and the performance of a smartphone. The main goal of the thesis was to discover an equation, in order to describe the correlation between the above factors. The purpose of this dissertation was to understand the existing handsets and to predict some of the future models that Samsung and Apple technology companies will launch, in terms of cost and performance. | en |
