| Content Summary | Η παρούσα μελέτη αφορά στην Ολυμπία, ενός από τα μεγαλύτερα, αν όχι το μεγαλύτερο Ιερό της αρχαιότητας, επίκεντρο, σήμερα, μιας από τις σπουδαιότερες ανασκαφικές έρευνες στην Ελλάδα και μια από τις σημαντικότερες αρχαιολογικές θέσεις, παγκοσμίως . Θέμα της μελέτης είναι η προστασία, ανάδειξη και διαχείριση των αρχαιοτήτων από την Αρχαιολογική Υπηρεσία, με βάση το υλικό του αρχείου της. Η μελέτη διαρθρώνεται σε δύο άξονες, χρονολογικό και θεματικό. Χρονολογικά, εκτείνεται από τον 19ο αιώνα έως τα μέσα του 20ου. , ενώ τα θέματα που πραγματεύεται δίνουν σημαντικές πληροφορίες για το έργο της Υπηρεσίας κατά την περίοδο των πρώτων γερμανικών ανασκαφών, την ίδρυση και λειτουργία του Σύγγρειου, του πρώτου αρχαιολογικού Μουσείου της Ολυμπίας, την προστασία του αρχαιολογικού χώρου και του ευρύτερου φυσικού του περιβάλλοντος, την αντιμετώπιση του ζητήματος της αρχαιοκαπηλίας. Ενδιαφέρον ζήτημα αποτελεί η συμβολή των αρχαιοτήτων της στην τουριστική ανάπτυξη της περιοχής. Τέλος, σημαντικά είναι τα στοιχεία που προκύπτουν, ως προς την προσφορά της Υπηρεσίας στην προστασία και διαφύλαξη των αρχαιοτήτων τη δεκαετία του 1940, της Κατοχής και του Εμφυλίου. Η προσφορά της Ελληνικής Αρχαιολογικής Υπηρεσίας αποδεικνύεται σημαντική και επιτυχημένη, παρά τα προβλήματα, τα λάθη, τις παραλείψεις, την έλλειψη συγκροτημένης πολιτικής, τις δύσκολες ιστορικές συγκυρίες, τις παθογένειες του Κράτους και της ίδιας της Υπηρεσίας. Η διαχείριση των αρχαιοτήτων της Ολυμπίας επηρεάζεται από πολλούς, ετερογενείς παράγοντες, οι οποίοι την καθιστούν ζήτημα σύνθετο και πολύπλοκο, ενώ οι ίδιες οι αρχαιότητες έχουν επενδυθεί ιδεολογικά με νοήματα, τα οποία τους έχουν προσδώσει βαθύτερες προεκτάσεις. Η προσέγγιση αυτών των παραμέτρων, οι οποίες ξεφεύγουν από το στενό πλαίσιο της επιστήμης, οδηγεί στη σύγχρονη εποχή, συμβάλλοντας στην αποτελεσματικότερη διαχείριση των αρχαιοτήτων στο μέλλον και την πληρέστερη κατανόηση της σχέσης του πολιτιστικού αγαθού με τον άνθρωπο. Ιδιαίτερα σήμερα, εποχή της μετανεωτερικότητας και της παγκοσμιοποίησης, το ζήτημα αποκτά μεγαλύτερο ενδιαφέρον, καθώς οι κοινωνίες και τα κράτη αλλάζουν σε όλο τον κόσμο, ενώ ζητήματα όπως η εθνική κουλτούρα και ο εθνικισμός επανέρχονται στο προσκήνιο, κάτω από νέες συνθήκες, θέτοντας νέα ερωτήματα και προβληματισμούς. | el |
| Content Summary | The current study focuses on Olympia, one of the greatest sanctuaries of antiquity, one of today’s most significant excavations in Greece and one of the most important archaeological sites of the world. It concentrates on the efforts of the Hellenic Archaeological Service, based on its historical archives, to protect, promote and manage the antiquities of the site. The study is structured both on a chronological and thematic axis. Chronologically it extends from the 19th century until the middle of the 20th, while thematically it includes valuable information on various topics such as the first excavations held by Greek and German archaeologists, the founding of Syngreion, the first archaeological museum of Olympia, the protection of the archaeological site and its surrounding natural environment, the confrontation of illicit trade of antiquities. Moreover, it emphasizes the contribution of the antiquities to the touristic development of the area. Finally, it presents important evidence on how the Archaeological Service protected the antiquities, during the German Occupation and Civil War. The contribution of the Hellenic Archaeological Service proved to be essential and successful, despite the problems, mistakes, omissions, the lack of a composed policy, the harsh historic circumstances, the pathogenesis of the Greek State and the Archaeological Service’s as well. The management of Olympia’s antiquities is subjected to many heterogeneous factors that make it a complex and complicated matter, while the antiquities themselves have been ideologically enriched so that they reach a deeper political, national and social meaning. To deal with these parameters that lay outside of the scientific frame, leads to our modern era and contributes to a more effective approach of managing antiquities in the future and a fuller understanding of the connection between modern man and his cultural property. Especially today, the era of postmodernism and globalization, this matter becomes more intriguing, since modern societies and nations transform all around the world, and issues such as ethnic culture and nationalism raise new questions and concerns, under new circumstances. | en |
