"Music is by no means a codified and hierarchically organized world" (Iannis Xenakis, "Texts on architecture and music"). This approach also reflects the architecture. Architecture and music are two worlds that are special and complex, formed in direct relation to the conditions of the reference time. Consequently, their approach is never simple. However, they follow a parallel course as the rules governing their structure and expression seem to be common.The thesis is consisted of five parts in which the relationship between music and architecture is explored through a comparative analysis of the Moonlight Sonata (Beethoven) and the Elbphilarmonie (Herzog & de Meuron).The first two parts define the research framework for the dipole music and architecture, while emphasizing the relationship between them with the presentation of specific (architectural) works. The third part presents the characteristics and the evolution of the sonata in comparison with the evolution of the music halls. The fourth part briefly presents the composer and the architects, while the fifth part analyzes their selected works. The following are the conclusions and the bibliographic references.
