| Content Summary | Η φύση του θανάτου αποτέλεσε πηγή στοχασμού από τις πρωτόγονες κοινωνίες μέχρι και σήμερα, όντας ένα δεδομένο της ανθρώπινης υπόστασης που ρυθμίζει την ίδια την ζωή και την συμπεριφορά του ανθρώπου. Σκοπός της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας είναι ο επαναπροσδιορισμός της σχέσης του ανθρώπου με το ζήτημα του θανάτου, μέσα από την ανάδειξη της μνήμης προγενέστερων και υφιστάμενων ιστορικών χώρων ταφής, καθώς και τη δημιουργία μιας νέας ταφικής τελετουργίας που εισάγεται στον ευρύτερο αστικό ιστό της Ευαγγελίστριας στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, μέσω ενός οργανωμένου συστήματος δημοσίων χώρων επιτυγχάνεται η ενοποίηση της περιοχής της Ροτόντας και της Παλιάς Φιλοσοφικής σχολής, στη θέση της οποίας εκτεινόταν η Εβραϊκή Νεκρόπολη, με την ευρύτερη έκταση των κοιμητηρίων της Ευαγγελίστριας έως και τους κήπους του Πασά. Επιπλέον η επανάχρηση της πρώην σχολής τεχνών και επαγγελμάτων Ισλαχανέ και του νοσοκομείου Αγίου Δημητρίου, σε συνδυασμό με τον σχεδιασμό δύο νέων μονάδων, κέντρου αποτέφρωσης και κομποστοποίησης νεκρών σωμάτων, στοχεύουν στην δημιουργία μιας ολιστικής τελετουργικής διαδικασίας. Το ζήτημα της ταφής εντάσσεται στον αστικό ιστό και την καθημερινή ζωή των κατοίκων, καθιστώντας τους συγκεκριμένους χώρους ικανούς να λειτουργήσουν ως πολυδιάστατα αστικά κύτταρα και ως χωρικοί φορείς νοημάτων που εγείρουν πολύμορφες αναγνώσεις της πόλης και του τόπου. | el |
| Content Summary | The nature of death has been a source of reflection from primitive societies until today, being a fact of human existence that regulates the very life and behavior of man. The purpose of this thesis is to redefine man's relationship with the issue of death, through highlighting the memory of previous and existing historical burial sites, as well as the creation of a new burial ritual that is introduced into the wider urban fabric of Evangelistria in Thessaloniki. More specifically, through an organized system of public spaces, the unification of the area of the Rotunda and the Old Philosophical School is achieved, in the place of which the Jewish Necropolis extended, with the wider area of the cemeteries of Evangelistria up to the gardens of the Pasha. In addition, the reuse of the former Islaxane School of Arts and Crafts and the Saint Demetrius Hospital, combined with the design of two new units, a cremation and composting center, aim to create a holistic ritual process. The question of burial is embedded in the urban fabric and the daily life of the inhabitants, making the specific spaces capable of functioning as multidimensional urban cells and as spatial carriers of meanings that raise multifaceted readings of the city and the place. | en |
