In the present diploma thesis, a study is made on the exploitation of the gold - copper deposit in Skouries, Halkidiki. The deposit appears almost cylindrical shape along the vertical axis, with a diameter of about 300m. The area of the deposit starts from +650m absolute altitude and ends at -100m.Initially, reference is made to the geological and mineralogical background of the area. Then a method of underground exploitation and underground mining is selected Specifically, the mining method chosen is Sublevel Open Stoping with backfill, for the part of the deposit between + 150m and + 350m (absolute altitude). In this study a detailed presentation of the design of the underground mining is made, the drilling process is analyzed, the sequence of the necessary explosions is described, a study is made for the appropriate soil support and in addition a suitable way of backfilling is proposed. In addition, access works are planned around the perimeter of the deposit to create a ventilation circuit. Finally, all the necessary equipment for the projects (mining, loading, drilling and ground support) is listed along with the expenses that will be needed.
