Summary

The purpose of this work is to investigate the spatial transformations that appear in urban environments of Mediterranean cities with a strong religious character and to analyze the urban presence of minorities related to specific sexual practices. The object of this paper is the workplaces of sex workers and queer spaces in the city of Beirut in three key time periods: before, during and after the civil war (1975-1990). The result of this war and the collision between East and West parts of the city had a huge effect in redefining the meaning of the word "difference" and in the urban space used by “different” minorities.
