Summary

During the preparation of this thesis, the aim is to model groundwater flow and nitrate transport, as well as the realization of two climate change scenarios for the Erdemli area, which is locates in Mersin, Turkey. As for the Erdemli area, it is located in Southern Turkey, and is a coastal region that is characterized as the largest agricultural region of Mersin province. In addition, a large percentage of its land uses are classifies as agricultural and touristic. In order to add the appropriate data to the PTC (Princeton Transport Code) model, the correct adjustment of the data precedes, in order to achieve a correct modeling of the groundwater as well as the transport of pollutants and nitrates. The ArgusONE program was implemented, which was mainly used for map processing. In the PTC mode, twenty-two wells were entered, for which through previous studies of the area, we knew the hydraulic heads as well as the pumping rates for the five-year period from 2003 to 2008. Then, the hydrometric data of hydraulic conductivities were added as the boundary conditions at the northern and southern ends of the study area were also determined. Then the results for the applied climate scenarios are presented and commented on, then the values of the pollutant - nitrate concentrations were introduced and finally the results of the model were presented, for which comments were made and solutions were presented in order to reduce the enrichment of the body by nitrates.
