Summary

The subject of this design thesis is the abandoned Botrys distillery in Sepolia, Athens. We study the history and individual uses that were housed in its premises. An intervention design has been prepared for the abandoned industrial shell, with the aim of reusing it to be able to have a beneficial effect on the downtrodden citizens of Sepolia. A key issue is the preservation of the memory of the former factory, which is a cultural heritage and landmark of the area. The use that has been chosen is that of a community center, in order to provide supportive services for the residents, but also cause for cultural and educational cultivation. Some problematic areas of the nearby urban fabric have also been identified, in which solutions are proposed in order to adequately fill the urban void left behind by the factory.
