Summary

The linear quadratic regulator with integral action (LQI) method is used in this paper to control DC-DC boost converter. The LQI controller around the operating point of the system can provide the system stability. However, when the control system is in the presence of severe uncertainty, the performance of the LQI controller decreases. So, for the purpose of implementation of the LQI controller in the presence of severe uncertainty, the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) are employed to enhance the performance of the controller so as to facilitate control action, the proposed scheme needs the information of the both state of the converter including, output voltage and inductor current. However, achieving the exact information of the inductor current in the presence of the noise and uncertainty can lead to deteriorate the control scheme. In this regards, Unscented Kalman filter (UKF) observer is employed to estimate the inductor current for reducing the number of sensors in order to reduce noise, economic costs and latency. The performance of the proposed control scheme is investigated via simulation and the results confirm the effectiveness of this scheme.
