Summary

A discrete-event hybrid simulation/analytic model for the study ofproduction networks is discussed. The system is represented by a set ofnonlinear difference equations for the slow-varying dynamics which aretractable by simulation, and a set of piecewise-linear algebraicequations for the fast dynamics which are solved analytically. Theresulting algorithm saves a great amount of computation and is muchfaster than a conventional piece-by-piece simulator
