Summary

Seismic Reflection data acquisition and processing is the most common geophysical method applied for natural resources exploration and has the highest degree of technical sophistication concerning both the data acquisition and processing capabilities. The main purpose of this thesis is to summarize the main steps involved in Seismic Reflection data processing, even the order in which they are applied is variable and depends on the complexity of the study area and the quality of the collected data. Thus, all the concepts, definitions, and methods which are essential for the analysis and processing of seismic reflection data are reviewed. To understand the theory of seismic reflection processing = and its application to real data, the MATLAB codes written by Mousa and Al-Shuhail (2011) [Processing of Seismic Reflection Data Using Matlab] and a 2D land-based data set (from the area of Texas, US) were used.It is concluded that the reflection seismic processing attempts to increase the signal to noise ratio, remove the artifacts and enhance the in time and space resolution of the collected data to produce the best geomodel of the study area.
