Content SummaryIn this thesis we discuss the design and implementation of a platform that would be able to simplify and improve the life of people with special needs (caretakers). This platform will also help their families as well as professionals that have many patients under their supervision. More specifically, we present a web application supporting the creation and management of some specific events. With these events, the person that takes care of the caretaker, (caregiver) will be able to monitor him and get informed in case of an emergency. The web application is compatible with most state-of-the-art mobile devices and computers and is able to monitor more than one caretaker. We also have created an android application for smart watches. This android application will run on the smart watch that the caretaker will wear, so that the caregiver can monitor him through the web application. Finally, it is worth mentioning that the applications have been evaluated for their usability by professionals and nonprofessionals users.en
