Summary

The aim of the research project is to explore the siding of views of natural beauty, as a synthetic iconographic element in the interior of the houses of post-war modernism in Greece. At the same time, it will be attempted to associate it with local frescoes in earlier periods of architecture. The object of the work is the interiors of the houses of Greek post-war modernism, where the natural landscape has been treated as a synthetic pictorial element. In particular, an attempt is made to study them, in country houses, designed by Greek modernist architects. Nikos Valsamakis, Konstantinos Dekavallas, Takis Zenetos, etc. there are some whose work will be analyzed next. Also, some cases of local frescoes, framed with illusionistic architectural elements, from the Roman times and the Renaissance will be studied. The research questions that the paper will attempt to answer are the following: -How does nature participate in the interior of houses during the Roman Times and the Renaissance era? -What reasons led to the painting representation of the natural landscape through the murals? -How did modern architects frame the natural landscape in their works? -How do local artworks converge with the architectural framing of the natural landscape in the interior of the houses? -How did they manage the concept of privacy because of large glass surfaces? -Did differences arise in architectural vocabulary and in floor plans? -What are the feelings that are created to the viewer when viewing a natural landscape from the inside of his residence and on what depends?
