Summary

This research investigates the effect of stereo and 'real-world' scene context on object recognition within an immersive Virtual Environment (VE). 24 participants across two visual conditions of varying depth cues (absence/presence of stereo) including objects with varied association to the scene context, were being exposed to the VE and completed an object-based memory recognition task. Results revealed that the effect of scene context on memory performance was greater than the effect of stereo cues.
