Summary

This paper presents a methodology to support knowledge acquisition based on the integration of pre-established domain knowledge with knowledge induced [i.e., learnt) from past clinical cases. Integration is achieved via filtering of clinical cases using pre-established domain knowledge and the enhancement of pre-established knowledge using clinical cases. We demonstrate our methodology by way of a ‘real-world’ clinical domain involving therapy planning of maldescensus testis.
