Summary

Employee job satisfaction constitutes a fundamental factor for both individual well-being and the effective operation of businesses, especially within a demanding and dynamically evolving sector such as tourism. This thesis explores in depth the level of job satisfaction among employees in the Greek tourism industry, focusing on the hotel sector and the changing working conditions following the COVID-19 pandemic. Particular emphasis is placed on the factors that influence employees’ intention to remain in the profession. The study follows a quantitative methodology, collecting data through questionnaires and analyzing them statistically using SPSS software. Key determining factors are examined, including remuneration, work - personal life balance, employer support, and workplace conditions. Additionally, challenges experienced by employees, the impact of professional burnout, and the likelihood of leaving the sector are investigated. The findings reveal significant relationships between demographic and occupational characteristics and overall employee satisfaction. The thesis concludes with policy and managerial recommendations, suggesting targeted interventions by institutions such as INSETE (Greek Tourism Confederation Institute) and employers, aiming to attract and retain workforce in one of the most vital pillars of the Greek economy.
