Product development today is no longer limited to a single scientific discipline, as the nature and complexity of products are evolving at an exponential rate, and most products can integrate a multitude of technological functionalities. In this thesis, an overview of the current product development process through systems engineering will be presented, the MBSE methodology will be introduced as a complement to the existing product development process, and the application of MBSE within the context of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) will be demonstrated.
