This diploma thesis addresses the optimization of the water supply network of Chania through the application of smart technologies and energy-autonomous solutions. It focuses on the water supply network of the city of Chania, aiming to detect leaks and improve the efficiency of the system. WaterCAD and WaterGEMS software are used for the analysis and simulation of the network. The thesis incorporates the principles of Smart Water Networks, using sensors and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, enabling continuous remote monitoring of the network's condition and immediate detection of anomalies. At the same time, it explores the potential of utilizing Renewable Energy Sources (RES), such as photovoltaics, aiming at the energy autonomy of key network infrastructure such as pumping stations. Finally, the evaluation of the methodology is based on data derived from hydraulic analysis, aiming to optimize the network's operation and the potential application of the solution to networks of any scale.
